Mediapapa enters maintenance mode until 2029. Filikod audits, scores and fixes the alt text of your whole media library, for free, inside the WordPress admin you already use.
Nothing to migrate: the alt text Mediapapa wrote is already in your media library. Install Filikod, read your ALT Quality Score and fix from one list. Since version 1.2.0 it also finds the exact duplicates in your library; unused media is not its job, and we say which plugin does that below.
Same media library whatever your builder: Filikod works with Elementor, Gutenberg, Divi, WPBakery and the themes below.

Filikod reads the images WordPress already has, scores them and lets you fix what visitors and search engines actually see.

Mediapapa was built in Paris by Jason Rouet and Nicolas Juen, two people who have given a lot to the WordPress community. The plugin mapped every media file to every place it was used, flagged duplicates and unused files, scored the library and, in its Pro and AI editions, generated titles, captions and alt text. It launched on WordPress.org in April 2026.
In September 2026 the team wrote that the product “has not reached the level of adoption required” to keep investing in it. Licences can be renewed, security fixes continue until 31 August 2029 and support stays open; new purchases are closed. Three years is a long runway, and a good moment to split what Mediapapa did into two jobs: cleaning the library, and describing the images. Filikod does the second one, and since 1.2.0 it takes the duplicates part of the first.

Mediapapa bundled several jobs. Filikod audits alt text and finds duplicate files, nothing more. For the rest, these are the plugins we would pick today.
Filikod finds the same photo uploaded three times and shows where each copy is used, but it never deletes or merges anything: you decide from the Media Library. To rewrite references automatically and keep one file, Media Deduper does that job.
Filikod audits every image, used or not, and deletes nothing. Media Cleaner scans posts, builders and ACF fields for references before you trash a file. Take a backup first, whatever the tool.
Filikod never touches image files by default. For WebP or AVIF conversion and compression, ShortPixel, Imagify or EWWW remain the usual choices. They write no alt text, which is why the two kinds of plugins coexist well.
Alt text is stored by WordPress itself, in the media library, not by any plugin. Whatever Mediapapa wrote there is already in place.
Plugins, Add New, search for Filikod, activate. The audit runs on your existing library at once, with nothing to configure.
The dashboard gives one number from 0 to 100 and the count of missing, generic, duplicated, too short and too long alts. Alt text written or generated with Mediapapa is scored like any other.
Filter by issue and edit inline. Mark logos and dividers as decorative so they stop weighing on the score.
Keep Mediapapa for unused files until 2029 if it works for you, or move that job to the plugin above. Duplicates are already covered. Nothing forces the two decisions to happen the same day.
Active development stopped on 1 September 2026, announced by co-founder Nicolas Juen on 3 September. The plugin remains installed and supported, with security and compatibility updates, until 31 August 2029. New purchases are no longer possible; renewals are.
Not for alt text. WordPress stores it in the media library, in the _wp_attachment_image_alt field of each image, and Mediapapa wrote there like every other plugin. Install Filikod and the audit reads it immediately. Tags and usage maps are Mediapapa’s own data and stay with Mediapapa.
Duplicates, yes, since version 1.2.0: Filikod fingerprints every image file, lists exact copies with the pages that use them and flags them in the media library, without deleting anything. Media translated with WPML or Polylang are not counted as duplicates. Unused media, no: for that job see Media Cleaner above.
No, and that is a choice. An optional feature drafts alt text locally from descriptive file names, with nothing sent to an external API. You review and edit everything from one list.
Yes. One version on WordPress.org, no account, no credits, no paid tier hiding the audit or the bulk editor. It is built in France by Lyode and rated 5/5 by its first reviewers.
Yes. They touch different things: Mediapapa tracks usage and files, Filikod reads and writes the alt meta. Running both during the transition is the sensible way to do it.
The full FAQ covers the checker, the score, the plugin and how your data is handled.
Install Filikod, run the audit and fix the list. Free, no account, and it reads the alt text Mediapapa already saved.
